President's Scholar Award

The President's Scholar Awards are intended to recognize distinguished achievements accomplished primarily at UTHealth by a faculty member with strong ties to UTHealth.  All faculty at UTHealth are eligible and nominees are usually full-time faculty members.

Nomination documentation required (please submit electronically):

  • A detailed statement of the nature and importance of the accomplishments to be recognized;
  • A complete curriculum vitae with bibliography;
  • A minimum of two recommendation letters from individuals (e.g., students, former students, colleagues, etc.) from within UTHealth; and
  • Other support as deemed useful

Examples of criteria for selection of the President's Scholar Awardees include:

President's Scholar Award for Teaching

  • Extent of teaching activities;
  • Published works in teaching;
  • Enthusiasm;
  • Innovation;
  • Stimulation as evidenced by supporting materials;
  • Teaching related mentoring activities;
  • Peer and student recognition;
  • Teaching related presentation materials; and
  • Other pertinent teaching activities

President's Scholar Award for Research

  • Extent of research activities;
  • Research quality and importance;
  • Productivity;
  • Peer recognition;
  • Contributions while at UTHealth; and
  • Other pertinent research activities
